First time I went ice skating I ended up flat on my back. Never again...

Ive never liked it, Ive been a few times. It pisses mee, probably because Im really clumsy and it bloody hurts when you fall over. Also, your feet will get incredibly cold.
Release your inner crazy.
I'm serious, it hurts like hell. But it is easy as roller skating.
Pm me about anything, you cumdumpster.
Yes, I know I'm going to hell.

It's quite easy. You need a little sense of balance, but still its super easy. Try to not to sharp turns, run (to go faster) or anything like that until you get a hang of it. Shouldn't take long, took me 5 minutes.
Doesn't hurt to bad on your ass, unless you got a boney butt. Should be fine, just like slipping or tripping, it's not hard to stay up though. Only time I fell was my friend and I where make-shifting a Ducks game xD
Its usually pretty rough your first time around, but as you find your balance you get the hang of it quickly.
What I really suggest since its your first time is to wear several pairs of high socks. I have a huge scar on my ankle from leaning too much on one side of a skate, and thus it began digging into my skin.

I would suggest how to ice skate for dummies at the bookstore or some internet skating lesson. I would suggest using real road skates before going into the ice, but they offer some lessons at the ice area so you may get a lesson from them. Or just tell them you don't have any real experience skating.
People must be doing it wrong, first time I went I was going real fast around the ring and I didn't fall at all, it was incredibly easy so I guess unless you really are a stiff awkward social outcast you will have fun.
When I first tried it for the first time it was pretty fun. Yes it hurts a bit when you fall down but not that much. If the skating rink is crowded I wouldn't go. Only if there's a few people so you can learn and not get hit by other skaters.
It can hurt, but try your best... Have fun, fun is all that matters.
just make sure the skates are tight around your feet, it gives you a more balanced feel.
Also, bend your knees just a bit when going faster. Try to say at the sides in the beginning, until you get the hang of it and your balance is okay. :) Have fun!
Whoah, rough time ahead of you buddy. It's HARD. Like HARD HARD, and I am not even kidding, especially since you don't have even any roller-skating skills either. Just get one of those things newbies get in order to balance themselves (just ask).
It hurts when you fall down, so don't forget to wear gloves (you know, skin + ice + momentum = ouch). Have fun.
Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.
Well, she's going in an hour, I'll probably go at this point. Who knows, maybe I'll be good at it.
Indeed, wear gloves, it also protects your fingers a bit when you fall. Since your finger will be on the ice, there's a chance someone will skate over it, so if you're wearing gloves, there's less of a chance they just cut your finger off. :p

Definitely go for it. This way you will have atleast tried it. I love to iceskate even though I'm not good at it. Its still fun especially with other people. It does hurt a bit when you fall though. Ice is hard as hell.
When you fall over, get up quickly, those blades can cut your arm off easy.
Wear a light coat, like a sweatshirt, otherwise you might get cold. I never got cold myself, but I really don't feel cold...
Also, unless you're an instant expert, your ankles WILL hurt. Not might, they WILL. They will also hurt the next day.
I'm Canadian so it comes naturally to me, but yea, it hurts when you fall, just take it nice and slow. It's fun, go do it.
I AM THREAD KILLER!
try holding a chair whilest skating, thats how we learn it here in holland
its pretty scary for a first time and it dose hurt when you fall flat on your ass
as long as you know to move your legs to your side rather than behind you your fine
if you fall try to make it so you dont fall on your ass
I went through that this year.
Find something to hold on to and don't be too rash.
Bend a bit through the knees and pretend to be (slide-)walking and you'll be fine. Hold your body upright. Also if you fall down it doesn't hurt so much.

Its very hard to ice skate. And to roller skate. I've fallen so many times =(. I will never do it again...EVER.
I guess its just not my thing. Besides, I would rather go to a movie or somewhere out to eat, Or maybe possibly go shopping with a girlfriend then go ice skating. Just my opinion :D
You've never been... ice... skating?
My God man, get off the internet and go D:
Also, falling is a sport in itself.
If you fall, don't fall flat on your ass, since that just hurts and it can damage the bottom portion of your spine, I think. I've only skated three or four times, but falling on my knees, or if I'm going slow, my hands seems to work well.

Obviously not. He's been divorced for 5 years now.
ice skating sucks more then roller skating, and they both suck.
i can't do either, so ya...
ice skating... ehh... too much pain at the beginning
It's extremely hard at first if you have never ice skated but you eventually get the hang of it if you aren't a pussy. And falling down can be fairly painful, especially if someone is behind you not paying attention and run over your fingers with the blades on their skates.
Fuck you.
I haven't been ice skating since I was five. I think I found it hard, but then again, I was fucking five. I used to roller blade a few years back, so I'd probably be a bit decent at it. But once you learn how to balence yourself, it should be easy.
FUCK I NEED TO GO ICE SKATING.
